Everyone is familiar with the saying “diamond are a girl’s best friend.”
But I have my own saying: shoes are my best friend.
So when it came to my wedding, choosing the pair of shoes to wear while saying “I do” was almost as big of a deal as saying “yes to the dress.” Not only would it complete the look, but they would live on forever in my wedding pictures. I knew I wanted them to be stunning, but also comfortable.
But hunting for the best pair to wear wasn’t exactly easy. When it comes to wedding shoes — brides have a wide range to choose from.
The trendy option.
Trending for weddings in 2021 and 2022 are nude heels with a clear toe. Clear heels hit the scene several years ago, but brides began to wear them down the aisle in just the last couple of years — picking up steam in 2021, and expecting to continue going strong for the near future. Why? Because they go with just about any color, they’re unique and make your legs look long.
Glitzy & Glam.
Badgley Mischka is known for an elaborate sparkly or pearly wedding shoe. Instead of earrings or a necklace, bride’s shoes can be the statement piece or jewelry for their dress. There are brides who want to go all out from head to toe — literally.
The Comfortable Approach.
For some brides, it doesn’t matter if their wedding is one of the most important days of their lives — they’d rather make sure their feet are comfortable. We’ve seen brides tie the knot in chucks or flip flops. Guess what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, you’ll likely dance the night away and outlast some of your own guests. Want something a little fancier yet comfy? Converse customizes its shoes for brides and grooms. Some brides will go a step further and add Swarovski crystals or pearls to their sneakers.
Barefoot Bride.
If you’re getting married in certain outdoor settings; for example, on a beach — why even wear shoes? Forget the stress of trying to find the perfect pair of wedding heels, and welcome the sand between your toes instead. There’s something refreshing and carefree about the look of a barefoot bride.
There’s always the option of wearing two different pairs of shoes at your wedding: the pair you get married in, and the shoes you wear at your reception when you let down your hair. Why buy one set of wedding shoes when you have the perfect excuse to get another pair?
One bit of advice: always have comfortable shoes handy or you may not be able to fully enjoy your wedding day if you’re tending to blisters and sore toes instead.
