Trend Alert: Wedding Hairstyles

The wedding hair styles that will be hot for 2022 weddings

Soft curls or braids? Updo or a ponytail?

Don’t get stuck with a wedding hair style that could make you look outdated or leave you regretting your look years from now.

Picking a hairstyle is like deciding what wedding dress you’ll wear — you want to make sure if flatters your face shape and fits the style of your dress.

We’re seeing many brides choose more timeless looks these days. Here are some of the hottest wedding hairstyle trends for 2022.

Hollywood glam.

Hollywood waves have recently made a comeback. The retro look was made famous more than eighty years ago with actresses like Rita Hayworth, and are now back on the red carpet with movie stars such as Black Lively and Jessica Alba.

The waves can be soft and loose or more defined. Add clip-in extensions to create volume; and with the right hair stylist — this look can stay in place throughout your wedding day.

PRO TIP: Hair must be one length to create the waves, which means bangs or layers will make it more difficult to create the perfect wave.

Bridal braids.

Braids have always been a wedding hairstyle favorite, but these days we’re seeing intricate double French braids, fishtail braids, dutch braids and waterfall braids.

Think loose, cascading intertwined hair that give off a romantic and boho chic feel. Use flowers and accessories, such as pearls or fancy wedding hair pins to add a little twinkle.

What’s great about bridal braids is that you can wear your hair long or create a soft updo.

Wedding ponytails.

Ponytails are a great compromise between an updo and showing off long-hair. Wedding ponytails for 2022 aren’t slicked back and sleek — the look is a little more relaxed as well as elaborate.
Decorate your ponytail with hair accessories or flowers or add dimension with a braid or two.

Loose waves, Center part.

Those large, loose waves that the Kardashians made famous are becoming a trend on the wedding aisle. The curls are large, airy and elegant.

This year saw the comeback of the center part. If you were on TikTok during the pandemic, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about — Gen Z made it clear that the side part is a thing of the past.

Don’t be shy if you want to use hair accessories, like a head piece, to complete this glam look.

Tousled Updo.

Updos will always have a place in weddings, but they’ve certainly changed over the years.

Next year we’ll see — you guessed it — a more relaxed, tousled look instead of tight, slicked back updos.

The updos for 2022 will be more whimsical and romantic instead of sleek and perfectly placed, like the French twist that was popular a couple decades ago.

Let a few strands fall around your face or tuck them behind your ear. Don’t forget you can add a braid as well.

Glitz & glam.

Last, but not least — there are brides who still want to don traditional wedding tiaras, but the trend for 2022 are bold and beautiful hair pins, combs and head pieces. Because the hair accessory can be intricate, you don’t need to go all out on your bridal jewelry.

From rhinestone hair combs to Swarovski floral head pieces — this glam fashion accessory can add the extra “wow” factor to your bridal look.
